Get involved
Two ways in
Families enrolling a child and volunteers offering time both start here.
For families
Enroll your child
Any student in grades 1–8 can join, with or without competition experience. We place them by grade.
- 1Tell us your child’s grade and any math background.
- 2We suggest a level: Basic, Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced.
- 3Classes start on the next Saturday of the block.
Why families stay
- Small classes where every student is known by name.
- A two-year curriculum that never repeats material.
- Compete at our own Math Kangaroo center.
- Benchmark results that show where a child actually is.
For volunteers
What volunteers actually do
Everything except the software and the rooms is done by someone volunteering their time.
High-school volunteers
Teach a class
Lead a weekly Saturday Zoom class from shared lesson plans and teaching notes. Most of our teachers are high schoolers.
Detail-oriented
Verify problems
Solve and critique original problems before they reach students. Good practice, and it is what stops a wrong answer key reaching a class.
Parents & adults
Proctor competitions
Help run the Math Kangaroo exam (a Thursday evening) and in-person benchmarks. Parent volunteers especially welcome here.
Every gift helps
Can't volunteer this year?
A donation covers the software, rooms, and competition fees that volunteering cannot.
