Read the Family Guide 2026–27 (PDF) →Any student in grades 1 through 8. No prior competition experience is needed, and the Basic level assumes none: it starts with puzzles written in plain language.
Four levels, each spanning two grades: Basic (1–2), Novice (3–4), Intermediate (5–6), and Advanced (7–8). Classes meet weekly on Saturdays at 3 PM Pacific over Zoom, in three blocks across the year.
Math Kangaroo for all levels, and the AMC 8 for our Advanced (and ramp-up Intermediate) students. We are an official Math Kangaroo center, so students can compete right here.
Because each level spans two grades, students stay in the same level for two years. Each level runs a Year A and a Year B cycle, equal in difficulty but different in content, so nobody repeats the same material two years running.
High-school volunteers, most of whom sat these same competitions a few years earlier. Every teacher works from shared lesson plans and teaching notes, so a class does not change character when the volunteer does.

No. Class recordings and materials are posted afterward, and because the two cycles are peers rather than a sequence, a student can join mid-year without a gap.
Classes are held over Zoom, so students can join from anywhere. Our in-person benchmark tests and the Math Kangaroo exam are hosted locally in the Cerritos, California area.
